Polar Express!

We just got back from our trip from New Jersey, where we were visiting with some friends.  The trip up went well.  We left around 1:00 right after eating lunch.  Marcus had to work, so I drove while he was working remotely from the car.  As we got into New Jersey, we realized that they had snow on the ground.  We expected it, which is why we took the jeep, but it’s still amazing how 6 hours difference can change the weather conditions.  So, we got there and we ate some yummy chicken quesadilla’s!  It took no time at all for Bean to hit it off with their boys and they were off playing together for the rest of the night.  Later, after the kids were in bed, Kolby and I stayed up and chatted over a cup of hot tea.

Saturday, we got up with the boys and had a nice breakfast.  The boys were crazy excited because they all knew that we were planning on going to the Polar Express later that night.  We were scheduled to get on the 6:00 train, so we were trying to figure out when we should leave to get there and eat dinner before getting on the train.  We found a place called the Ladybug Café, that was temporarily the North Pole Café that was located right across the street from the station.  So, we made our reservations for 4:30 so that we would have plenty of time to eat and get our seats.  We took the big boy beans out to play in the snow for a bit, and then went in for lunch.  After eating, Kolby and I took a nap with the little beans, while Rick and Marcus looked after the big boy beans.

After our nap, we dressed the boys in their pajamas and their robes and we packed everyone up in the car.  Big boy beans were in the jeep with Marcus and I, which little beans rode with Rick and Kolby.  We got there a little later then we had planned, but we were able to finish up our food and get to the station to get our GOLDEN TICKETS, which bean had been asking me for all week!  We got on and found some seats that were all together… They played music from the movie and passed out cookies and hot chocolate.  Santa came thru with his elves and gave out bells to all of the kids.  The boys had a BLAST and were jumping and climbing all over the seats.  By the end of the night we were all ready to get home and climb into bed.

When we got the boys home and into their beds, Kolby and I listened outside the door while they talked about Santa and God and how they were going to miss each other… Aww…  It was so sweet!  When they fell asleep, we stayed up and chatted some more over our tea and watched MORE snow coming down!  Anyways, I had a great time!  We were sad to leave in the morning.  The weekend just went by too quickly.  It continued to snow as we made our way down the mountain and we made at least 4 U-turns to get ourselves on the road that we needed to be on because they had closed off the exit ramp that we needed to take because of a car pileup.  (Thank goodness we had that jeep!)  Now we are home and Caleb keeps talking about his *NEW* best friend!  We’ll have to plan to see them again sometime!

Bad Photobucket!

Well, I spent all afternoon on photobucket trying to create a slideshow of the pictures from out vacation.  In the middle of working on it though, I had to step away here and there for the kids.  Everytime I came back to the computer, the site was still up and it let me continue working on it.  Until… I went to finalize the project and then it sent me to the login page!  AHHH!!!  So…  Instead of posting a slideshow on here for you to see… I will just post my favorites right here…  Which is what I didn’t want to do, because it’s a lot!  Enjoy!

Home at last!

What a trip!  Like Marcus said yesterday, we need a vacation from our vacation.  We got home last night with around 14500 more miles on the jeep.  We didn’t really have internet connections while we were gone, and I tried to just write down my blog in word, but that only happened once or twice.  So to sum up everything that happened in the past 2 weeks…

We woke up Thursday morning (my birthday) and I got my gifts from the boys.  I didn’t feel great that morning, but I tried to shrug it off.  We packed up the jeep and headed to McDonalds for breakfast which I didn’t eat much of.  We got on the road and were in Williamsburg for lunch.  By this point I really didn’t feel well and didn’t eat.  We checked into our hotel and instead of going out like we thought we would, we stayed in and I **tried** to rest.  I think I was able to shut my eyes for an hour or two, but never really fell asleep.  The kids were playing with the toys we brought and watched sponge bob and then there was the TRAIN!  Yes, a train that was maybe a few feet from the hotel.  Walls shook when it passed!  There must be a sign with an arrow pointing to the building and says “Cheap Asses!!!”  because that train horn sounded every time it passed!  We got the hotel because it was cheap, thinking that we would be out and about most of the time anyways…  We didn’t count on me being sick.  After the second or third train that passed, I told Marcus we needed to get out.  We went to the outlets down the street and shopped in some of the stores.  We walked around 3 stores though, and I just couldn’t stand anymore.  We went out to dinner and I got soup, but couldn’t eat it…  Then we got back to the hotel, put the kids to bed and took my temp.  It was close to 102.  I felt the same way I had felt a couple weeks before when I thought I had Mastitis but without the breast pain.  Blah!!!

The next day was a little better.  I still felt a little queasy, but I didn’t want to stay in that hotel room all day.  We went out to eat and I ate…  We went to Colonial Williamsburg and I was somewhat able to walk around.  We skipped Water Country.  We did go to a Go Carts Plus and rode on some go carts, bumper boats, some kiddie rides and then we played some putt putt.  Afterwards, we got ready to go to dinner at a place called 2nd Street.  Marcus had been there before and loved it.  Caleb…  fell and hit his head really hard on the bathroom floor.  When we got in the car both boys were falling asleep, but because of Caleb’s fall, I was trying to keep him awake.  It took us almost 2 hours to find this place… We got so turned around and lost!  We found it though and the food was awesome!  I can’t wait to go there again!  :)

Fast forward to the next day.  We set off to OBX.  We met up with my mom and step dad and after waiting a long time for our house to be ready, we set off for our house.  We followed the paved road to the end… where it lets off right onto the beach.  Stuck the jeep in 4 wheel drive and we drove 8 miles ON the beach to our house.  It was an awesome experience.  Marcus had a lot of fun with that too!

We spent a whole week on the beach!  It rained for a little while 1 day and we just happened to be out in the jeep with the doors and windows off… LOL!  We went body boarding, made sand castles, went shopping, drove to Kill Devil Hills for a day and got some good tans!  One of the best parts of the trip was that we woke up almost every day to wild horses in our yard and around the house.  It was an awesome vacation!  Caleb had no fear of the water and LOVED being in the ocean.  Alec on the other hand hated the water but loved the sand.  He of course tried to eat the sand a few times and it took him a couple of days to realize that it was not edible!

We left Friday night instead of Saturday morning.  We beat a lot of traffic by doing this!  We went camping Saturday – Monday at the Shenandoah river.  We do this often and we always do the same things…  Raft down the river from the bridge to our camp… and then Caleb always tried to fish.  This time though, 1 thing affected both of these.  The river weeds were really overgrown and thick!  The rafts got stuck… and the hooks got tangled.  We still had a good time though.

Monday morning we packed up and went straight to Fairfax, where we went to a birthday party.  I got to see 2 friends from the September Sweethearts that I haven’t seen in a long time.  It was fun to catch up with them!  After the party we finally made our way home!  Now, we’re home and I have loads of laundry to do!  It was a great vacation though!  I can’t wait till next year!

I’m working on uploading some pics.  I will post a link when I am finished.  :)

Almost there…

It’s one o’ clock in the morning and I’m almost ready for bed.  I’ve just spent the last 6 hours or so cleaning up the house so that when we get back from vacation, it’s already done and the only thing I have to worry about is the 2 weeks of dirty laundry that we will be bringing back with us!  The majority of our clothes for the 2 weeks was packed up and dropped off with my mom last night.  I still have to check over to see that I have clothes for the 4 of us for the next 3 days.  I’m pretty sure we are covered though!  I have 1 load of Laundry in the dryer now that includes Caleb’s bathing suit.  I also havn’t packed any toys for the kids yet.  I can do that in the morning though.  DVD player is packed and so are the meds and diapers.  Toiletries will be packed last of course…

We are all SO READY for this vacation!  I’ll try to check in if I get the chance.  Our First stop is Williamsburg and I think our hotel might have interent.  I can already imagine how much fun we are going to have!  :)

These places were listed in my Parents Magazine and I really think it’s a good list!  Of course I havn’t even seen some of these things and I would LOVE to!  When the boys are a little older we would definitely have to plan to see these.  Caleb has already seen maybe a 3rd of these, but he wouldn’t remember them except for the pictures.  Anyways, I’ll have to keep this list in mind.  :)

planning and packing… already!

We leave in EIGHT days for vacation.  We will be gone for a week and a half, so I have a lot to pack and we will be taking the jeep, so we don’t have tons of room.  My mom and step dad will be meeting up with us, and said that they would take some things for us, but we have to decide what we will need until we see them!

So…  We leave on Thursday to drive down to Williamsburg, VA and we will spend the day touring the area.  Then we’re going out to dinner and getting a good nights rest.  On Friday, we are going to Water Country USA and I can’t wait!  I think Caleb will have a great time!  :)

On Saturday we leave in the morning and we will meet my parents down in the Outer Banks, N.C for breakfast at some place…  not sure where, all my mom knows is that they have good breakfast.  LOL!  After breakfast we will hang out at the beach or something until check in, which is 4:00, but they said we could see if it was ready at 2:00.  We rented an awesome 3 bedroom house from Twiddy for a week!  We get the house from Saturday to Saturday and it’s RIGHT on the beach!  This house is accessible by 4WD only, (which is why we are only taking the jeep) and Marcus is super excited about that!

So… packing…  The house has a high chair and pack n play, so we don’t need to worry about packing that up.  I do need a stroller though and it needs to go with us in the jeep.  OI!  Dunno what else we will be able to pack… LOL!  I’ve begun packing up a bag of things that my mom will be taking for us.  I might just pack a small bag for the clothes we will need in WIlliamsburg and then of course the DVD player and some movies…  The stroller will probably take up the rest of the space we have… HA!  I wish we had some extra space in there… but with both kids, it’s just a tight squeeze.  We’re going to turn Alec’s car seat around for the trip.  If he starts to cry, it’s just impossible for me to get back to see what he needs.  packing some snacks fo course, and some small things like sunscreen and meds.  I need to make a list is what I need to do!  Seems like I have time, but it’s about a week away!  Ah!!!  Where’s the pause button???
