Turtle out of water

I packed up the kids this morning and we drove over to Target to see if we could find a Halloween Costume for Alec.  As we pulled up, I noticed the sprinklers were on and the grounds that they were watering were saturated.  So, I can blame Target when we run out of water next month…  Anyways, we never found much as far as costumes go.  So, we headed over to the Mall and walked from store to store.  Just as I was about to give up, I walked into the Children’s Place and found a small rack of costumes with a red sign that said, 50% off.  I wondered if I should even look, since it looked like slim pickin’s in there.  The first costume I picked up said 18-24 months.  Before I knew what it was I tucked it under my arm and continued to search.  There were several moms at that rack and I didn’t want to loose Bean’s costume to any of them.  LOL!  Well, the first costume I picked up is the one I ended up buying.  It was a turtle costume that doesn’t have much to it, but it’ll do.  The shell velcro’s on the back and has a cute little green tail sticking out.  It has these cute little slippers with what looks like turtle claws and a hat with the turtle face that he probably wont wear, but without it, he still looks like a turtle!  Now I just need to find something to put on under it to keep him warm.  It’s starting to get cold around here.  The weather has been nice all week, high’s in the high 60’s and low 70’s.  I wish it would stay like this.  However, I also wish for a little rain too.  I found a link today on the Loudon County Website for a workshop on how to Build a Rain Barrel & Conserve Water.  Is that crazy or what?!?  It’s supposed to rain in the next couple of days and supposedly next week too.  I think my rain dance worked!  The boys and I will do antoher one tomorrow!  Hey… it’s fun!  :)

Mandatory Water Restrictions

This restriction has been in effect for about a week now.  We are restricted to using 75 gallons of water per person, per day.  We are not allowed to wash our cars, water our lawns or fill our pools.  The Ashburn reservoir has dropped to 20% of its capacity.  The reservoir should have almost one and half billion gallons of water. But… we only have 280 million gallons of water left, which will probably be gone by this time next month!  This just seems so crazy to me - less than one month’s water left? Why did LCSA wait so long to put mandatory water restrictions in place? I mean, who’s filling their pool in October?!

Quick!  Everyone do a rain dance!
